Legislation and Analysis
Legislative bill drafting and analysis are two of the
primary duties of the Office of Policy Analysis. Each year, policy analysts
draft, review, and prepare over 3,000 bills and over 2,500 amendments to bills.
Additionally, for each bill that is introduced, analysts prepare a fiscal and
policy note that provides detailed background and other information on the
bill. Another important function of the office is code revision, the
preparation of formal, ongoing, non-substantive bulk revision, reorganization,
and restatement of the statutory laws of Maryland.
